BIOGRAPHY:
Later on, Dominic Delmonaco was promoted to Staff Sergeant and survived the war. A year after the libearation of the city of Besançon in France, Dominic Delmonaco and other liberators were invited to join in a parade and a ceremonial commemoration. On the return trip to his military base he was killed in a tragic car accident. Dominic was buried next to his brother, Frank A. Delmonaco on the American Cemetery and Monument Margraten in the Netherlands. Frank Delmonaco served with the 513th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 17th Airborne Dvision and was killed in action on March 24th during Operation Varsity.
Dominic Delmonico’s surname has been spelled incorrectly; it should be Delmonaco.
