Jack Maschhoff entered service in Detroit, Michigan on 5th November 1942. On 10th March 1945 he left for Europe to arrive there on March 197th. He served as a Ball Turret Gunner with Boeing B 17's. He attended a total of 14 missions with a B 17 called "Wanna Bet" and 23 (of which 9 are recorded) on board of a B 17 with 571st Squadron, 390th (Heavy) Bombardment Group, 13th Combat Bombardment Wing, 3rd Bombardment Division, 8th Air Force. He was send back to the States again on 1st June 1945, where he arrived on 5th July. On 24th November 1945 he was honorably discharged from active service.
