Untill recently only two persons were known to have received the Air Force Cross in relation to the Second World War. Recent research by Douglas C. Sterner revealed that in a little publicized ceremony, Charles “Charlie” L. Brown was awarded the Air Force Cross on 4th February 2008, under Department of the Air Force, Special Order G-094.
