On July 24, 1945 the unit of private Partridge came under heavily enemy fire at Bougainville on the Solomon Islands.
Partridge considered themselves non moment, stormed forward from his shelter and could, with throwing hand grenades, eliminate a machine-gun post. When he again attacked an enemy spot -a bunker- he touched wounded. This means that he had to blow off his attack. He dragged himself back, to the rest of its section. They gave covering fire so he could withdraw themselves from their critical position.
