Action:
|
On 21 November 1941 an attack by Rifleman Beeley’s company on an airfield near Sidi Rezegh, Libya, was beaten off by enemy fire. In the initial action all officers were wounded and so Rifleman Beeley decided on his own initiative to attack the enemy over open ground while firing his Bren gun. Doing so Rifleman Beeley was killed after putting two enemy machine-guns out of action. Inspired by his bravery the other members of his company attacked for the second time and secured the objective, also taking approximately 100 prisoners of war.
